Welcome to All Pets in Pencil
Hey there! I'm Xaia and I draw memorial portraits for pets that have crossed over the rainbow bridge.
I started this when my own dog passed away in 2024 in an attempt to help the grieving. Since then, I aim to dedicate this skill I have to helping others go through the same process.
Even though I draw digitally on an Ipad, every single drawing here is 100% hand drawn. No AI, no generative programs - only hands and my pencil, wether it's the old wooden pencil or the techy Apple pencil, of choice. So, drawings take time to come.

Cassie
"When I received the drawing of my cat Cassie, I was very touched. The artist managed to convey even the look of my cat when she was still alive. The work amazingly conveys the mood and is such an important memory of my friend who left. I am very grateful to have such a memory ❤️"

Requesón
"Hello! Thank you very, very much for this amazing painting of my boy Requesón. We are still in so much pain after we lost him and we remember him everyday so much and we miss him so much. But this beautiful drawing makes me remembering many moments of happiness with him and reminds me to keep living happy. I am so thankful that Xaia made this beautiful and full of love drawing. We are so lucky to meet Xaia! Thank you so much and of course we will share this amazing drawing to all of our friends🙏🏽 thank you so much we are so happy✨"

My Process
-
Starting the drawing
Once I receive the photos, I will add you to my queue. However, once I do start on your piece, I will send you an email!
I then start with a rough sketch in which I play around with different headshots and compositions to get the best foundation possible for a successful result. This takes time and is an important part of the process that cannot - and should not - ever be skipped! -
Drawing away
From here on out, I'm just drawing and constantly fixing things. I like to draw over the pictures I selected for the artwork, in order to get the most accurate proportions and representation of your pet. I aim for accuracy - not just technical, but also emotional and spiritual. During the drawing phase, I always try to connect with your pet's spirit so that I can bring their essence out. Not going to lie...it often brings me to tears.
-
Sending the drawing
Once done, I provide a round of 3 revisions to you in case you'd like that. I will send you the drawing through email. Once done, or if there weren't any, I will send you an email containing the package that has the artwork, the timelapse video and the phone wallpaper version! And done!
Your Process
-
Placing your order
From the different options, choose which one best fits your needs and go through the usual steps of checking out. Choose, pay and get ready to start the process of your pet's artwork's creation with me!
-
Sending the photos
Once your order is placed, an email will be sent to you asking for a minimum of 20 pictures of your pet. Whether they're good quality, low quality or even screenshots from videos - I accept them all! The more photos, the better. There will also be a form attached that I ask you to fill out. It asks for the name of your pet and for the story of you and your pet. It always helps to know some background on what I am drawing.
-
Final step
Once the email from the step before has been replied to, sit back and relax as I get to working on your pet. The usual time for the completion of a commission is around 2 weeks. You will receive an email from me asking for any final revisions. Once that's done, I will send you the final drawing in a package containing the artwork, a timelapse video and, finally, a phone wallpaper version!
